Job description

We are seeking an experienced Highways Design Engineer to
grow our Civil Engineering team in Leeds. 
You will work primarily with our Civils team in providing infrastructure
design support to them on their exciting portfolio of building led
projects.    

We will provide you with a working environment that provides

You will be required to deliver high quality infrastructure
designs (roads and drainage) associated with building projects, the role will
include management and development of the civil engineers, graduates and
apprentices and developing the business.

  • The role will include, but is not be limited to,
    the following responsibilities:
  • Design of projects from the concept stage
    through to the construction stage.
  • You will have strong IT skills in the use of the
    above mentioned technical software, Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD
    combined with a practical approach.  You
    will also be able to demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment
    whilst also having personal initiative.
  • You will be able to show that you have strong
    communication and personal effectiveness skills, with the ability to build and
    maintain effective working relationships at all levels.  
  • The position is for an individual who we expect
    will be fully conversant with our industry standard design software packages,
    PDS or Civil 3D and WINDES.  You will
    also be fully proficient in the use of AutoCAD.

The right candidate must be capable of working independently
in producing drawn details of their design work in the form of AutoCAD drawings
for regulatory approval and construction. 
You must also demonstrate an aptitude, and preferably an ability, to
effectively delegate design responsibility to others and act in a mentoring
role to less experienced staff.

  • You will be educated to degree level with a
    minimum 2:1 in a relevant discipline and be a Member of the Institution of
    Civil Engineers.
  • You will have proven experience in a similar
    environment as well as experience of working on site as a site engineer or
    resident engineer.
  • You will have strong practical knowledge of
    Civils 3D, PDS, AutoCAD and Windes Microdrainage and be confident in your
    knowledge of relevant design standards and legislation.
